Cohort Programs - Optional Live Sessions and Missing Completion Checkmarks on the Learning Portal

Question: Why are live sessions or session recordings optional on the learning portal? Why don’t I see a completion tick mark for them once I’ve attended or watched the recording?

Answer: Live sessions and their recordings are categorized as optional content on the learning portal, which is why a tick mark does not appear next to them after completion. Tick marks are only shown for content that is designated as required within the portal system.

These sessions are marked optional to allow flexibility. We understand that personal or professional commitments may prevent some learners from attending live. In such cases, watching the recording allows you to stay on track and still receive attendance credit.

Additionally, many learners revisit session recordings even after attending live. Marking both the live session and its recording as required would create duplicate completion records for a single learning activity. Labeling them as optional helps avoid this issue while still providing access to important content.

Please note: Although live sessions and recordings are marked as optional on the portal, they may still be part of your program’s completion criteria. We recommend reviewing your program’s specific requirements to ensure you meet all the necessary milestones to successfully graduate.
